Around 1989 I made a little xerox picture book of some of my favorite boxcar drawings. I always carried copies with me on freight trips as a conversation starter with tramps and railworkers, or as evidence to show the bulls that I was in the yard on innocent business--- talking photographs of art, not breaking into containers and stealing TV sets. Believe it or not, it usually worked. I don't think rail road cops are as mellow these days...
